In 2016, the annual Harvard Business School Health Care conference will focus on ways in which organizations are engaging consumers and patients in new care paradigms to reduce costs and drive improved outcomes. As we enter an era in which patients have more power, more responsibility, and more choice than ever before, businesses from all segments of healthcare must re-orient themselves around satisfying a diverse set of consumer needs and expectations in order to thrive. It is our view that leaders can benefit immensely from an integrated and more nuanced view of the new healthcare consumer, and our hope that this year’s conference will provide a forum to share these ideas and insights towards the goal of better patient care and engagement.
