Event Details
The Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center was one of the first three Alzheimer’s Disease Centers that were funded in 1984 under the PHS Act, Section 445, when Congress mandated the NIA to set up a nationwide ADC program to pursue research related to the disease, in anticipation of the ‘silver tsunami’ that is expected to overwhelm the U.S. public health system.
This live symposium will feature presentations by some of the most preeminent leaders in the field of AD research and clinical practice – many of whom were trained at the Center – on four major topics: Neuroimaging, Genetics, Therapeutics and Future Directions in AD Research. Major advances in research and treatment paradigms over the past 30 years will be discussed, along with discourse on ‘next-generation’ R & D (‘Research & Development’) approaches that will mine ‘Big Data’ from cross-disciplinary teams to translate research findings to effective therapeutics for patients with AD.
