The honorable Richard H. Carmona, MD, MPH, FACS, 17th Surgeon General of the United States and Distinguished Professor, University of Arizona will be the opening keynote. Entitled “Prevention, Preparedness, Plagues and Politics: The Life of the Surgeon” this compelling session will discuss the role that the political environment plays in the development of healthcare policies, and explore the impact that political alliances have on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) implementation across the state.
